Anyone can get head lice although no one likes the thought of it. You may not think you can’t do anything to prevent it but you can. People transmit lice and pass it to other people. Lice cannot live unless they are on a human. They don’t jump across the room and they can’t crawl into places to live. By taking some simple precautionary steps you can prevent head lice.
Be Vigilant
If your child has personal items or things they use that other children come in contact with such as a car seat clean them on a regular basis. Pillows, nap mats and even head phones should be kept clean and checked often. Check your child often for signs of lice especially if they are in school or involved in group activities. Heading it off will prevent having to use rid lice treatments.
No Sharing
This may sound a little odd when you consider we spend a good time telling them to share. But not when it comes to preventing lice. This is one time sharing is a big no-no. Teach your children never to share things that might have been on or near another child’s head. These include things such as hats, scarves, combs and brushes. These are typical things you would think of but you should also warn them against sharing other types of things as well. Any bedding at all, pillows or sports helmets should not be shared. Avoid throwing coats and hats into one big pile with lots of kids around. Hang them away from each other. Preventing it is easier than treating head lice.
Know the Symptoms
You can catch lice in its early stages if you know what to look for. Small red bumps or tiny sores on the back of the neck, around the ears and on the head is a tell tale sign. Itching of the scalp is the usual sign most people look for. If you see any signs of this prepare to treat head lice so it won’t spread. You can find a variety of rid lice treatments in any store but be sure and do your research first. Almost none of them are FDA approved. But you can find FDA rid lice treatment with us.
