Successful Use Of An Inversion Table

Persons that suffer from chronic lower back pain go to many extremes to find relief from the pain that sometimes seems to rule their lives. Many people may have tried an inversion table before but not had good results. But if you prepare your back for the experience you can enjoy relief from your back pain.

The cause of back pain is often compressed or bulging discs. Using the table will allow you to get the pressure off those discs so that they can return to their normal shape. Once the disc returns to the normal shape it can provide the cushion that will prevent you from feeling the back pain.

If you want to prepare your back for the inversion time, you should do some stretching of the muscles. After they have been relaxed, your body can allow the spine to move back to its normal position.

One effective stretching exercise uses a towel roll approximately six inches in diameter. The person needs to be seated in their chair and lays the towel in their lap against the belly. Keeping that roll in the same position, the person will lean forward over the towel for fifty repetitions. This exercise helps to increase blood flow to the back, a critical element of healing.

Another effective stretch is the prayer stretch. This stretch is performed while kneeling on your floor. Your buttocks should stay on your heels for the stretch. Bend at the waist with your arms stretched in above your head until the fingertips hit the floor. Stay in this position for thirty seconds. Relax and then repeat the stretch a second time before using the table.

Once you have stretched and are on the table, you will want to tilt the table so that your head is below your feet. You should be at approximately a twenty five degree angle. You should stay in this position for at least five to ten minutes, but you can stay longer.

If you are looking for back pain relief, an inversion table may help.

Popping pills for your back pain will only temporarily ease the discomfort, it won’t fix the underlying problem. Using a back stretching machine such as an inversion table is a much better approach. It will decompress your spine and relieve the pressure on the vertebral discs. Many people find great results with these appliances.
